Solar Panels
The solar panels generate electricity when exposed to sunlight. Greatest efficiency is achieved when panels are mounted at the appropriate angle for your latitude and facing north. High performance is still available with panels facing anywhere from north through to east or west. The angle of a typical Australian house roof is ideal. Our basic, 1.5 kW system comprises nine panels, and our systems are fully expandable to suit your power requirements. Suitable locations for installation include at eye level in an attached garage, near your switchboard, on a porch or verandah or other out of the way place.
Electricity Meter Upgrade
To receive the benefit of the new feed-in tariffs, you may need to upgrade your electricity meter to one that can separately measure the amount of electricity you draw from the grid, and the amount you export to the grid. This is done by your electricity retailer, not Clear Solar. The cost is likely to be between $120 and $430 depending on your retailer. An application form for a new electricity meter is included with your documents.
Meter and Switch Board Upgrade
Older meter boards and switch boards may not meet current safety standards, and it may be necessary to upgrade your board. Although this is an additional cost, it does make for a safer home. This can be arranged by Clear Solar, and can be deducted from your cash back in most circumstances.
